Chris Altmann & Que Paso

June 21st, 2009

You may or may not know that Chris has been busy writing a bunch of tunes in the key of country soul and bluegrass. Most of these tunes don’t quite fit the regular Vandas format, so Chris has harnessed a few good friends to form Chris Altmann & Que Paso.

The band makes its grand debut with two sets at the Carringbush Hotel, Abbottsford, on Sunday, 28 June from 5:30 pm to 8:00 pm. Chris’s new tunes are stunners and this band is shit hot - don’t miss out!

We’ll keep you updated on key happenings here, but for more information and the latest news, visit Chris’s Facebook page.

And fear not Vandas fans - not only do The Vandas have a bunch of great gigs coming up, but Chris and Mikey have a slew of new Vandas tunes that the band will be demoing and debuting live soon. Stay tuned…

The Vandas added to Blueprint Festival

June 21st, 2009

We’re part of the second line-up announcement of Australia’s newest live music festival, the Blueprint Festival, to be held outside Ararat, Victoria, on 18-20 September.

Other acts on the bill include The Panics, The Basics, Wagons, and our good mates The Fearless Vampire Killers and The Frowning Clouds.

Blueprint promises a different approach to the average festival fare, including a seated restaurant and beer hall serving boutique beers. Sounds good, eh?

We’re onstage at the new time of 11:00 pm on Friday, 18 September.

For more information and tickets visit the festival website: www.blueprintfestival.com

We have an online forum at last…

April 1st, 2009

That’s right, there’s now a place you can discuss all things Vandas or otherwise, in the comfort of The Vandas website.

Take a look around, sign up and start your own gabfest today. Go on… you know you want to.

But remember, please play nice - we wouldn’t want to ban anyone now, would we?

Touring with The Pink Fits and more…

March 15th, 2009

Adelaide on Friday night was a lotta fun as usual. Leader Cheetah and The Yearlings were fabbo to say the least. We’ll have a full wrap of this show and upcoming dates over the coming weeks.

This Friday night, 20 March at the Tote in Melbourne, we begin our tour with one of Australia’s best live bands, The Pink Fits!

Featuring ex-members of legendary Australian bands Tumbleweed and Asteroid B-612, you may have seen The Pink Fits support The BellRays and The Stems in recent times. But if this tour is to be your first taste, then boy are you in for a treat!

Joining us for these dates will be Melbourne’s own garage-surf-blues maestros, Midnight Woolf.

See the flyer below for details.

But first of all…

We play the National Hotel in Geelong this Thursday, 19 March with hometown heroes, The Frowning Clouds. $10 on the door.
