Ahoy, just a quick reminder that The Vandas are playing the Gershwin Room at the Espy this Saturday night (6 Dec) with The Gin Club (QLD) + Mike Noga & The Gentlemen of Fortune + The Young Liberals (QLD). Vandas on at 10:50 pm. Tix at Oztix and at the door.

Then on Sunday, we play the ‘Sunday Sessions’ at Queen Victoria Markets. We’ll be playing two sets (1:00 pm and 2:30 pm) and we’re bringing the horn section.

It’s all ages, it’s FREE, and there’s fake Harley-Davidson and Slipknot t-shirts aplenty in the adjoining pavillion. In other words, there’s no excuses for not heading on down to the Queen Street Marquee and watching us tear the place a new one.

UPDATE: we’re playing the HOT PRODUCE STAGE 12:45 pm - 1:15 pm.

Yep, you read right - we’re playing the 2009 Big Day Out in Melbourne!

The festival date is Monday, 26 January (Australia Day public holiday) - we’ll let you know our stage and playing times as soon as we know.

The Vandas have been nominated in the Best New Talent category of the 2008 EG Awards in The Age newspaper.

UPDATE - 03/12/08: thanks to everyone who voted for us - we came a respectable fourth behind Little Red, The Scientists of Modern Music, and Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu. We finished in front of a bunch of higher profile/hyped acts (Gabriella Cilmi, Empire of the Sun, Bridezilla, Sam Sparrow, Tame Impala, and The Galvatrons).

A quick reminder that Chris and Mikey are playing and acoustic in-store at Pure Pop Records from 5:00 pm, this Saturday, 15 November. Free entry.

Later that night the full band plays two sets at Yah Yah’s in Fitzroy from 9:30 pm. Also free entry.
